A Century in the Making: Planning GCSAA’s Centennial Celebration Event
The 2026 GCSAA Conference and Trade Show marks a defining milestone for the golf industry, celebrating 100 years of the Golf Course Superintendents Association of America. As the largest annual gathering of its kind, the event brings together thousands of professionals from across the country, making this centennial not just a conference but a moment of reflection and celebration across the entire industry.
A centerpiece of the week’s programming was the Centennial Celebration, an evening event hosted at ICON Park, one of Orlando’s most dynamic open-air entertainment destinations. Designed as both a tribute and a shared experience, the event brought together members, partners, and industry leaders in a setting that reflects the energy and evolution of the association.
The Scope
For this milestone year, I supported the planning and execution of the Centennial Celebration, an off-site event designed to accommodate and engage a large, diverse audience within a high-traffic venue.
The scope included coordinating event logistics across a multi-acre footprint and working closely with venue partners to activate multiple spaces simultaneously. With attendees spread throughout ICON Park, the experience required thoughtful planning around wayfinding, timing, and overall guest movement.
A key component of the event was the integration of community, industry, and partnership support through custom restaurant and branding packages. These collaborations allowed partners to host within ICON Park’s venues while extending their presence through tailored branding opportunities across the event. This approach created a more immersive and connected experience, while also highlighting the role of partners in supporting both the celebration and the broader industry.
Programming also played a central role in shaping the evening. Live entertainment, interactive attractions, and access to experiences like The Orlando Eye helped create an environment that felt both celebratory and engaging. At the same time, coordination with food and beverage partners ensured a wide range of options that could efficiently serve a high-volume crowd.
Delivering this experience required close collaboration with internal stakeholders, vendors, and on-site teams to ensure alignment across all elements of the event.
The Outcome
The Centennial Celebration delivered a high-energy, large-scale experience that honored GCSAA’s legacy while creating space for meaningful connection among attendees. The combination of strong partner involvement, thoughtful programming, and detailed operational planning resulted in an event that felt cohesive, engaging, and reflective of the industry it represents.
Beyond execution, the event reinforced the importance of community and partnership in shaping the future of the golf course management industry, while celebrating the progress that has defined the past 100 years.
