Executing Game Day Experiences at the Highest Level
From 2018 to 2020, I served in a part-time game-day role with the Kansas City Chiefs, supporting the execution of fan experiences, ceremonial elements, and partner activations during home games at Arrowhead Stadium.
Game day operations require hundreds of moving parts to come together on a precise timeline. Every activation, appearance, and on-field element must be coordinated seamlessly to ensure a world-class experience for fans, partners, guests, and stakeholders.
The CHALLENGE
NFL game days operate in a fast-paced, highly visible environment where timing is critical and there is little margin for error.
Each week involved coordinating experiences that required collaboration across multiple departments, including event operations, entertainment, security, guest services, sponsorship, and stadium personnel.
Key responsibilities included:
Managing pre-game, in-game, and post-game features
Coordinating celebrity and VIP appearances
Escorting corporate partners and special guests
Supporting GEHA Drum Deck ceremonies
Assisting with on-field and fan-facing activations
Ensuring experiences stayed on schedule and executed as planned
Success depended on maintaining clear communication while adapting quickly to changing circumstances and real-time operational needs.
The APPROACH
My role focused on helping ensure that game-day elements were executed efficiently, professionally, and according to established timelines.
This included:
Event logistics and coordination
Stakeholder and guest management
Partner and sponsor support
On-site problem solving
Cross-functional communication
Timeline and run-of-show execution
Fan experience support
Because game days operate on strict schedules, attention to detail was essential. Every activation required coordination between multiple teams while maintaining a positive experience for guests, partners, and participants.
The work demanded the ability to remain calm under pressure, communicate effectively, and adapt quickly when priorities shifted.
The RESULTS
Supporting game-day operations for one of the NFL's premier franchises provided firsthand experience executing high-profile events in a demanding environment.
The role strengthened skills in event coordination, stakeholder management, live-event logistics, and operational execution. It also reinforced the importance of preparation, communication, and teamwork when delivering experiences that are visible to tens of thousands of attendees and a national audience.
Working NFL game days offered valuable insight into how large-scale events are planned, coordinated, and executed at the highest professional level—where every detail contributes to the overall experience.
